Changes At COOL Website

Submitted by cooladmin — Tue, 12/17/2013 - 2:30 PM — Last Updated: Sun, 01/12/2014 - 6:34 PM

Just a brief note to let you know that the site isn't broken, it's changing. This is due to the need to update the appearance to accommodate the wide variety of screens people are using to visit the site and because the appearance needed a bit of spiffing up after five years. The sidebars you used to see are gone but all of that info is at the bottom of the page now. The page is also shorter with fewer stories. There will be a few more changes coming soon, too.  Stay tuned.

KofC Council #11188 Receives Star Council Award for 2012-13

On Sunday, October 13, the members of Knights of Columbus Council #11188 were presented with a Star Council Award for the third year in a row (and for only the fourth time in the 20 year history of the council).  The presentation was made to Grand Knight Tim Hickey, at the 11:00  AM Mass by District Deputy Joseph Dickman. Mr. Hickey stood in for Past Grand Knight Rob de Santos, who could not attend due to illness. Star Council is only achieved by 10% of the councils in existence and requires a combination of satisfying numerous program requirements along with meeting membership quotas. It is the highest award given by the Supreme Council in recognition of achievement by a local council. To reach this status for three consecutive years is unusual. Mr. de Santos and Past Grand Knight John Petrushka lead the council the past three years.

Knights Present Checks to Local Organizations

Submitted by cooladmin — Fri, 09/06/2013 - 4:29 AM — Last Updated: Thu, 09/12/2013 - 6:30 PM

On Tuesday, September 10 th , 2013, the Knights of Columbus, Council #11188 presented checks to two organizations that provide assistance to intellectually challenged individuals within the Columbus / Franklin County area.  Grand Knight Tim Hickey presented checks in the amount of $372.51 to Brian Asbury, Director of Development and Public Relations for the Heinzerling Foundation and to Denise Showalter, Office Manager of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO).  Both representatives gave very informative presentations about their respective organizations.  The money was collected by members of Council at the intersection of Hamilton and Refugee Roads back in May as part of the State Council's Measure Up program. Over the years, this program has generated thousands of dollars for these organizations and many others that serve needy individuals in Ohio.
