Sunday Mass returns to Church of Our Lady for the Feast of Pentecost, Sunday, May 31, at 10:00 AM with many considerations for the safety of our parishioners. Know that attendance is NOT mandatory. Those who are over age 70, especially those with health issues, are encouraged to continue watching the televised Masses available. Mandatory attendance will begin September 13 if sufficient safety has been established . (Update: from 6/6/20, there will also be a Saturday, 4:00 PM Mass.)

For anyone who chooses to attend, the following personal precautions must be met:

  1. If you have a cough or any kind of fever, please do NOT come to Mass!
  2. Wash hands before coming to Mass, and use hand sanitizer as you enter the church.
  3. Wear a mask, and maintain social-distancing as you wait to enter the church.
  4. Please wait for an usher wearing a mask and gloves to seat you (as at a wedding) to ensure safe-distancing (families may be seated as a group if 10 people or fewer).
  5. Avoid touching any surfaces if at all possible (commonly touched areas of the church will be sanitized before and after Mass). (6) Please avoid wandering around and/or socializing before and after Mass.

These are things you will find different from a normal Mass. Among these are:

The Return to Normal: when is an open question, but it will happen. This is an opportunity to practice the virtue of patience, as well as trust in the Lord. Pray that it happens sooner than later, but be assured the day WILL come.

  1. There will be no holy water in the fonts.
  2. The hymnals will be gone or covered (if covered, please do NOT touch them).
  3. Fr. Jim will be the only minister on the altar; no deacon or servers.
  4. Music, if used at all, will be minimum; no cantor or choir (there may be an organist/pianist to support the service music most of us know by heart. Again, please do NOT pick up a hymnal.)
  5. There will be no offertory procession to take up the gifts; everything will be pre-placed on the altar.
  6. The Sign of Peace is eliminated.
  7. Communion will be Host only, no Cup (receiving the Host in the hand only is strongly encouraged to avoid any contact with the recipient’s tongue). Maintain social distancing in the Communion line.
