Dobbs Day

From Columbus Right to Life

Tomorrow (December 1, 2021), the U.S. Supreme Court will her
oral arguments in the Dobbs
v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case at 10:00 am. You can watch or
listen to the oral arguments using a variety of methods:

·    Tune
in on the Supreme Court’s website for audio or to review case
documents.

·    Watch
the CSPAN coverage on YouTube

·    Follow the analysis and live
blog on SCOTUS BLOG (not a US government site)

·
If you have the time, read some of the articles curated and
published by SCOTUS BLOG; some of the best legal and cultural analysis I’ve
seen is gathered there. There will be plenty of people with hot takes of
questionable value on social media and in some of the blogs run individuals and
groups, but look for things that are thoughtfully written rather than
click-bait.

·    There will also be
rallies by groups in favor of abortion and those opposed to abortion – watch
for Facebook or other social media posts. For example,
this rally in support of abortion will start at 7:30 am (it’s a good
thing to be aware of what we are up against), and groups like Students for Life
will be holding a prayer march and rallying live at 9:00 am. Register here
for a live feed.

We are also inviting the local community to pray, fast, and act
for life tomorrow. Specifically, we ask that you pray for those involved
in oral arguments, especially the justices of the Supreme Court. To pray for
them by name:

·    Chief Justice John
G. Roberts, Jr.,

·    Associate Justice
Samuel A. Alito, Jr.,

·    Associate Justice
Clarence Thomas,

·    Associate Justice
Stephen G. Breyer,

·    Associate Justice
Sonia Sotomayor,

·    Associate Justice
Brett M. Kavanaugh,

·    Associate Justice
Elena Kagan,

·    Associate Justice
Neil M. Gorsuch, and

·    Associate Justice
Amy Coney Barrett.

We also ask you to consider fasting tomorrow, if it is
safe for you to do so. Generally, fasts are abstention from food or water or reduced
consumption for those who are healthy and old enough to undertake a fast.
However, others may choose to fast from something else as a sacrifice. One
thing to consider is participating in a narrow fast from now until the decision
is announced. The decision will most likely be announced in June so keep this
in mind. We’ve heard from people who are abstaining from food one day a week or
one day a month. We’ve also heard from people giving up a favorite treat, tv
show, or other part of their daily life.
