Lynn is a graduate from the school of spiritual direction at Franciscan University and has a graduate certificate in coaching from the College of Executive Coaching. She has a Master of Social Work with a specialty in individual and family counseling.
In spiritual direction, we are invited to come into communion with the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus, as we share in the mystical experience of becoming one body in Christ. Join us for a discussion on how we open our hearts to receive the true presence of Jesus, in the same way that we receive his life-giving presence in the Eucharist.

Jessica Ellingsworth holds a Master of Science Degree in Psychology. She founded her own private psychotherapy practice in Wisconsin over 15 years ago, which included extensive work with those experiencing traumatic loss. Jessica recently moved to Steubenville, OH where she is employed full-time at Franciscan University of Steubenville in the Office for Personal Vocation as well as teaches various undergraduate Psychology courses on-ground and on-line. Jessica continues to offer mental health coaching virtually across the United States.
Each of us has an individual capacity to get through life experiences. Join Jessica Ellingsworth, MSP as she explores, explains, and trains spiritual directors in the invaluable bereavement tool, “The Whirlpool of Grief” by Dr. Richard Wilson. The theory relates a river to the journey of everyday life which then experiences a waterfall, representing any kind of loss. Jessica will guide directors in self-knowledge about their own responses to grieving loss and then shed valuable light on how to walk closer with directees through the various whirlpool experiences of grief. This thought-provoking image and modality will provide great insights for all who are experiencing any kind of loss in life.

Fr. Steve Borello is Vocations Director for the Diocese of Joliet, IL. He has been an integral part of Franciscan University’s School of Spiritual Direction Team for the off-site Intensives in that diocese, including being a facilitator and retreat master. Prior to being Vocations Director, Father Steve’s assignments included three years at St. John Vianney College Seminary, on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minnesota. While there, he served as a spiritual director, a formator, and taught a class to the seminarians. He sees the priesthood as a “the greatest adventure you’ll ever know to follow Jesus with your whole heart, mind, and soul”.
Join Fr. Steve Borello as he offers a presentation on the importance of boundaries between director and directee in spiritual direction. Instead of being associated with constraints, Fr. Steve will offer a definition of boundaries as the space that creates freedom for the true self to flourish and grow, becoming who God calls us to be. The director/directee relationship hold the tension of being both independent and connected for impact and development. With good boundaries, directors can more fully give themselves to the other while at the same time secure for themselves their own self-care.

Katie Weiss is the founder of Behold Visio Divina, a ministry devoted to helping others know of their dignity in light of Christ through prayer and sacred art. Katie graduated from Catholic Distance University with a degree in Theology. She spent time in formation as a religious sister and was also an art teacher for many years before working in ministry. Through her many years of experience in spiritual formation and art, she founded Behold after being deeply impacted by visio divina in her own life. Her talks and workshops have been featured in multiple venues, such as the Frassati Fellowship of New York City, the Edith Stein Project, Christendom College, and the GIVEN Institute.
Join us as on this special journey as we encounter Christ in a new way through praying with art! In this session, Katie will share her witness story, lead us through a praying with art session, and then show us how to integrate visio divina in spiritual direction sessions. During our time, we will pray with art together and discuss the experience. It is our hope that this powerful experience can be a new way for us to encounter Christ, along with sharing it with others.
