Linda Lee Potts Obituary

Linda Lee Potts (Mountjoy), 79, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on April 10, 2024 following a brief battle with cancer. Linda was born on November 27, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to Mary and Charles Mountjoy. She and her older sister, Patricia (Pat)attended Saint Patrick’s Academy in Washington, D.C. Linda was ‘introduced’ to her future husband, Orville (Orv) Potts by Pat, who set them up as pen pals. Orv was serving in the United States Air Force at the time and it would be two years before they would actually meet in person for the first time. Marriage soon followed as did the welcoming of three children; Charlie, Marie, and Steve.
The family relocated to the Columbus area in 1969 and four years later had a house built in Madison Township in the Groveport-Madison School District. It would remain the family home for more than 50 years. Soon after moving into the house, Linda began volunteering for the school system at both Dunloe and Sedalia Elementary where she would serve as a volunteer and substitute secretary for several decades.
Throughout the years, Linda focused on helping young people develop through both the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother, Merit Badge Counselor, Assistant Superintendent of the Boy Scout Booth at the Ohio State Fair, and many other positions that positively impacted the youth she worked with. She received many awards over the years and was always humbled when being honored.
Linda’s greatest pride was her children, all of whom followed the path of public service. In typical Linda fashion, she could always be counted on to volunteer when asked. From baked goods, event support, making phone calls, assisting withresearch, or literally anything she was asked to assist with. She was always an integral part to the ‘secret sauce’ of success.
Linda was preceded in death by Orvher loving husband of 56 years, sister Pat (Dale), nephew Richard, and nephew Don (Janet). She is survived by her three children, Charlie (Debbie), Marie (Joe), Steve (Angie), granddaughter Lauren (Jake), grandson Doug, and nephews Michael (Liz), Jim (Linda), Larry (Linda), and Duane (Joyce).
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal located at 5225 Refugee Rd., Columbus, OH 43232 where a Vigil Service will take place at 6:30 pm.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10:30am, also at Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
